In the News...

June 2013

Congratulations to Jess Adamson, Georgetown, who finished third in the OHSAA State Track Meet Division 3 Shot Put on Saturday. Jess posted a throw of 57'8" to finish in third place. Others who placed in the State Meet include: Olivia Behymer, New Richmond, fifth in the Division 2 400M Dash with a time of 57.52; Hannah Hall, New Richmond, eighth in the Division 2 High Jump with a jump of 5'0"; Lauren Stacey, Western Brown, eighth in the Division 1 Shot Put with a throw of 40'4.5". We congratulate these athletes for representing our league well at the State Track Meet.


In the months to come, we will continue to update and improve the website for next school year. We wish the best for the 2013 Graduates as they move on to college and careers and look forward to another school year filled with lots of competition and accomplishments. Have a safe summer and we will see you in the Fall!

Clermont Northeastern Girls Softball lost today to Bishop Ready in 8 innings. Final score Bishop, 2 - CNE, 1. We are still very proud of the Lady Rockets and the great season they had. Congratulations on being Regional Runner-ups and thanks for representing your school and the SBAAC so well!

Congratulations to Hannah Hall, New Richmond who became the Regional Champion in the Girls Division 2 High Jump. Hannah will head to the State Track Meet next week. Also congratulations to the following athletes who will advance to the State Meet in Division 2: Olivia Behymer, New Richmond, 400M Dash: Calvin Phillips, Goshen, Shot Put; Tiera Martinelli,Goshen, Girls Pole Vault. In Division 1, Lauren Stacy, Western Brown, in the Shot Put. In Division 3, Arica Stutz, Felicity, 100M Hurdles; Jeff Adamson, Georgetown, Shot Put, Nick McAfee, Georgetown, 1600M run and the 4x800M Relay, with teammates, Jake Cropper, Kyle Damen, and Logan Lucas will be heading to the State Meet. Good Luck to all our athletes!

Congratulations to Clermont Northeastern Softball for winning the Districts on Saturday. This is their 3rd straight District Title. They play Miami East on Thursday at Wright State at 5PM.
Also congratulations to Western Brown Softball, New Richmond Baseball and Clermont Northeastern Baseball for winning Sectional Championships and achieving District Runner-up honors.

The Spring Sports Banquet will take place on Tuesday, May 28th at Hamersville School in Hamersville starting at 6:30 p.m. We will honor our 1st Teams All-Stars at this banquet. April 2013

Spring sports are in full swing. Check out the results of your teams on the "schedule page" or see how they are doing in the league by clicking on the "standings page". To make sure of daily schedules and changes, check with your school's main office or athletic office. For results for track, check on the "track" page on www.baumspage.com.

On Saturday, April 20th, Xavier University is hosting a Men's Soccer game between Xavier and Notre Dame at 7:30. All proceeds will be going to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati. Two former SBAAC athletes, Will and Matt Walker are involved in this endeavor. The admission is $5. Come out and support this cause!

March 2013

Congratulations to Travis Boyd, Blanchester who finished 6th at the OHSAA State Division III Tournament last week. Travis wrestled at the 220 weight class. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Robert Boston, Norwood, who has signed to play football at Ashland University in the Fall. We wish him the best. Robert was named All Ohio, All Southwest Ohio, and an All-Star for the SBAAC.

We want to congratulate both the Lady Indians at Norwood and the Lady G-Men at Georgetown for being runner-ups in the OHSAA Districts for Division II and Division III Girls Basketball respectively. We are proud of your representation for your school and in the league.

Congratulations to JR Forsee, New Richmond who finished 6th at the OHSAA State Division II Tournament this past weekend. JR wrestled at the 285 weight class.

February 2013

Norwood Girls Basketball won the Division II Sectional Championship by defeating another SBAAC team, Western Brown 60 - 59 at Withrow on Saturday. Norwood advances to the Districts at Mason HS next Friday, March 1st to take on Clinton Massie. Good Luck Lady Indians!

Georgetown Girls Basketball won the Division III Sectional Championships by defeating another SBAAC team, Felicity 50 - 40 at Wilmington on Saturday. Georgetown advances to the Districts at Springfield next Saturday, March 2nd to take on Miami East. Good luck Lady Cardinals! 

Bethel HS wins the SBAAC Academic Tournament over Norwood in the final match. They join league champs, Amelia and CNE to advance to the Ohio Academic Competition which takes place in April. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Nathan Dixon, New Richmond at Division II and Travis Boyd, Blanchester at Division III who both won District Championships at the 220 weight class. Kenon Bowling, Western Brown at 145 and JR Forsee, New Richmond at 285 weight classes in Division II finish third. Chip Ratcliff, Bethel at 132 weight class  in Division II finishes fourth. All these wrestlers will advance to the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament next week in Columbus. We wish them the best!

Amelia won over Western Brown on Tuesday to tie with Bethel for the American Division Academic Team Championship. CNE and Batavia tied in the National Division for the Team Championship. Results for all the league matches are listed on the "Standings" page above. This Saturday, February 23 at Batavia High School starting at 9AM. Good luck to all teams participating. 

Results from the 1st Annual SBAAC Boys Basketball Championships held at Goshen High School on Saturday:
Winners for each place were as follows: 6th place - Norwood, 5th place - Bethel, 4th - Western Brown, 3rd - New Richmond, 2nd - Goshen, 1st - Amelia. The 1st place game went down to the last seconds with the final score, Amelia 56 - Georgetown 55. Congratulations to all! Detail results should be posted on the "standings" page link to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Results from the 1st Annual SBAAC Girls Basketball Championships held at Western Brown High School on Feb 9th:
Winners for each place were as follows: 6th place - Goshen, 5th place - Bethel, 4th - Amelia, 3rd - New Richmond, 2nd - Norwood, 1st - Western Brown.

Blanchester HS Wrestling Team lost in the 1st Round of the 1st Annual OHSAA State Finals Team Tournament on Saturday to Massilon Tuslaw 27 - 51. This is the first year for the Team Wrestling and Blanchester represented the league quite well. Good Luck to all our wrestlers in the OHSAA Individual State Tournaments.

American Division: Bethel-Tate 145.5, New Richmond 143, Amelia 107.5, Western Brown 98, Goshen 56 and Norwood 16.

January 2013

Congratulations to the following student-athletes who have committed to play sports at the collegiate level next school year:
Ronnie Williams, Norwood, has committed to play football at Thomas More. Ron was First Team All SBAAC in 2012 and played a big part in the stellar defense that won League.
Natalie Geiger, Norwood, has committed to play soccer at Division II University of Southern Indiana. Natalie was three time First team All League and Player of the Year “2011” in the FAVC. She compiled 86 career goals and 33 assists at Norwood.

2012 Goshen graduate, Chaz Gresham is featured on the Ohio High School Athletic Association magazine this month.




 

Congratulations to Senior Forward Tyler Morgan (a 2009 graduate of WBHS), who broke the all-time career basketball rebounding record at Shawnee State University.

Winter sports are in full swing now! With Basketball, Wrestling, and Academic Team (in January) there is plenty to do throughout the next few months. Check out your schools schedule posted on the "schedules" page above and keep up to date on League standings for Basketball on the standings page. 

Check with your local school district for wrestling and other winter activities.

November 2012

Norwood senior, Robert Boston, was selected for the 3rd Team All-OHIO All-Star Defense team in Football this week. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Amber Lawrence, Felicity, who signed with UC Clermont to play Volleyball next year. Amber was a 1st Team SBAAC All-Star this past season. Good luck next year!

Congratulations to Coach Chris Majors from Norwood who was named "Coach of the Year" for the Division IV All-District Honors. Also the following athletes made All-District All-Star teams:
1st Team: Robert Boston, Norwood, Defensive Back
2nd Team: Andrew Conover, Norwood, Quarterback
2nd Team: Gabe Rice, Norwood, Running Back
Honorable Mention: Jared Peters, Norwood, Wide Receiver
Honorable Mention: John Biggers, Norwood, Linebacker

Congratulations to Norwood HS and Batavia HS who both won in the first round of the OHSAA state playoffs to advance in the Region 16, Division IV, OHSAA tournament. Norwood beat Middletown Fenwick 21 - 14 and will play West Milton-Union in the second round and Batavia beat CHCA 46 - 27 and will play Clinton Massie. The SBAAC is proud of both teams and wish them the best of luck. Check with the local athletic departments for ticket availability.

The Fall Sports All-Star Banquet will be held on Wednesday, November 7th at Hamersville School in Hamersville. First Team All-Stars will be recognized. The banquet starts at 6:30PM and student athletes and their parents can contact their local athletic director for information. Congratulations to all of our all-stars and fall sport athletes for a good season!

October 2012

Congratulations to Nick McAfee, Georgetown who advances to the State Cross Country to be held next Saturday, November 3rd at 11 AM at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, OH. Nick finished third in the Regional tournament and ran a time of 16:24.51. For more information about the State Cross Country Meet go to www.ohsaa.org. Good Luck at the State Meet!
The New Richmond Girls Cross Country won the Division II District meet out of Mason on Saturday, Oct 20th. A picture of the team is posted on the Southwest District web page. Click here to view. 

We are very proud of Amelia High School who was notified earlier this week that they will be receiving the Harold A. Meyer Award from the OHSAA for Sportsmanship, Ethics, and Integrity. Amelia was the only public high school in the Cincinnati Area to receive this award and one in 24 schools in the state. The SBAAC Conference is very proud of our member school.

The SBAAC announced this week the 2011 - 2012 recipients of the George "Bud" Phillips scholarships. The female recipient is Andrea Lanigan who graduated from Bethel HS and is attending Shawnee State University and the male recipient is Austin Skaggs who graduated from New Richmond HS and is attending the University of Kentucky. Both of these recipients will be recognized at the fall all-star banquet held on Wednesday, November 7th at Hamersville School. They both received $500 scholarships to put towards their education. Congratulations to our 1st annual recipients!

September 2012

The SBAAC Golf Tournament was a huge success held on Saturday, September 22nd. New Richmond won the 18-Hole Tournament and the Medalist for the day was Jake Brinker from Amelia. The divisional champions were also determined by combining the four regular season 9-hole matches and the team scores from Saturday. Georgetown was crowned champion in the National Division and New Richmond is the American Division Champion. The "Player of the Year" for the National Division is Grant Ledford from Blanchester and "Coach of the Year", Sheri Griffith from Georgetown. In the American Division, "Player of the Year" is Jake Brinker from Amelia and "Coach of the Year", Phil Heflin from New Richmond. Complete results are posted on the "standings" page listed above. Congratulations to Clare Schaljo (Bethel-Tate) and the team of Hanna Allen and Cassidy Jennett (Blanchester) on winning the SBC invitational singles and doubles girls tennis tournaments on Wednesday.
